What is Information and Communication Technology (ICT)?
The term Information and Communication Technology (ICT) refers to forms of technology that allow information to be gathered, digitally processed and communicated.  Essentially, ICT incorporates a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to create, store, analyse, evaluate, disseminate and manage information. Some  of  these  technologies include computers, the Internet, digital media and broadcasting technologies such as radio, television,  video  and  telephony, and the  protocols  and  services  associated  with  these technologies, including electronic mail, text messaging and webcasts.

What are the common competencies in ICT?
This model is composed of three core competencies, which are
(1) Knowledge and skills competency (K&S),
(2) Synthesis and creativity competency(S&C), and
(3) Creative mind competency (CM).

What are the ICT resources for teaching and learning?
ICT in Education Resources for Teaching and Learning

• E-Learning Series on Information and communication Technology (ICT) in Education.
• Collection of E-Learning Tools, for Learners Aged 3-13.
• Collection of E-learning Tools, for Advanced Learners.
• Web Tools for Educators.
• Directory of ICT resources for Teaching and Learning of Science, Mathematics and Language.

What is ICT skills for teachers?
The 'ICT skills for Educators' course is designed to enable participants to improve their teaching practices with the use of specific ICT tools, such as smart boards, web conferencing and webinars, among others, thus, creating a 'learner-centric' classroom.

What are the examples of ICT tools?
      A few show-off gizmos; e.g. data-logging; remote control vehicles/robots/buzzers and lights!

These are 10 ICT items I would like to use in my classroom. They are in no particular preference; some of the items I am already using and others are merely a pipe-dream. In most cases, the list includes hardware items, but not exclusively.
1.   A social media output channel to connect with students, parents and fellow classrooms outside your 4 walls …
2.   A desktop computer for you to access online resources. There was a day when I taught in a classroom with no PC!
3.   USB or Wifi access for document sharing and device connectivity. Again, rewind just 7 or 8 years ago …
3.   A projector with interactive whiteboard functionality or television screen connectivity.
5.   A presentation clicker  classroom mobility. The best one I’ve found is  which I use for keynotes.
6.   A visualiser or doLogitforechcument camera for displaying student work, or presenting live feedback.
7.   Tablet devices for teacher and student e.g. iPad and not necessarily 1:1 (Listen to the research).
8.   Recording hardware/software for podcasting e.g. microphone, headphone and speakers
9.   A digital camera for showcasing work in film or photographs.
10.   A few show-off gizmos; e.g. data-logging; remote control vehicles/robots/buzzers and lights!

ICT IS USED BY THE TEACHER  AS A LEARNING TECHNIQUES AND STRATEGIES, WHERE THE STUDENTS MOTIVATED BY USING THEM, IS ACTIVE AND IN CONTROL OF THE TASK. BY USING ICT IN THE CLASSROOM CAN HELP TO DEVELOP TECHNICAL SKILLS LIKE USING MOISE, KEYBOARD, INTERACTIVE WHITEBOARD ETC., AND TO PERFORM FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITIES SUCH AS USING A TEXT PROCESSOR. THESE TECHNOLOGIES CAN BE USED TO ENABLE TEACHERS TO ADMINISTRATIVE TASK MORE EFFICIENTLY.

3. How can a teacher be effective in the classroom?
